Furniture repair and restoration in Perthshire
All types of repair and restoration, antique and modern. Water marks, lifting veneer, broken joints and tired finishes, sorted in my workshop in Bankfoot, near Perth.

What usually comes through the door
- White and dark rings
- Cups, vases and plant pots. White marks sit in the finish; dark ones mean water has got into the wood. Both can usually be dealt with.
- Lifting and missing veneer
- Veneer gets relaid, and missing bits are patched with matching figure so they don’t shout.
- Loose joints and wobbly chairs
- Taken apart, cleaned up and reglued, not just filled.
- Knocks from house moves
- Snapped legs, crushed corners, chipped edges. Removal damage is heartbreaking and almost always fixable.
- Splits in tops
- Sometimes the right answer is a butterfly key across the split, which stops it travelling and looks good doing it.
- A finish gone dull and patchy
- Cleaned back and refinished, often by French polishing.
Two more before and afters
A black lacquer cabinet with its chipped top edge rebuilt and blended into the bird and flower decoration. Below it, a drop-leaf table and chairs with a worn, patchy finish taken back and refinished across the whole set.

The wee details matter most

Family pieces are the ones that matter

“The removal company dropped my antique Grandfather’s oak extension dining table and smashed the joint on one leg. Craig responded to my desperate plea for help... He recovered and restored a loved piece of family history.”
“I also have a cherished birds-eye maple dressing table that he repaired and managed to turn into an even lovelier side table.”
